River is one great yarn invention. Wow! The combination of alpaca, silk and merino is a stroke of genius. The combination yields a yarn that is light, warm, soft and cuddly while each fiber in this (truly brilliant) mix takes on the dye in a way that is so different from its neighbor's that an unparalleled depth of color richness springs forth. The alpaca pulls the color way to the back, giving it a soft, subdued quality. As you know, silk takes color in exactly the opposite way, brightening and deepening hues, sending them out into the world with light and lustre. Merino is a wool that actually sharpens color, though in a milder way than silk, thus holding a mid-point between the alpaca and silk. When these three fibers act together, they treat us to color complexity and richness that leaves me sighing for more. Rich color enwrapping a supremely sensual yarn? River delivers in a way that all of us will love for years to come.
